Sound Camp

Hydrophones in Newt Pond

We spent a gloriously sunny weekend, camping in the oasis that is Stave Hill Ecology Park, Rotherhithe, for Sound Camp 2018.

Sound Camp features a live stream of the dawn chorus. The stream moves from listening point to point around the globe over a 24 hour period. This way listeners can follow the dawn chorus as it circles the planet. It is a truly magical experience!

There were some wonderful listening events over the weekend and we listened to bird song and other airborne creatures in a series of dawn chorus, bat walks and through a programme of fascinating talks, workshops and performances.

We even found time to test our hydrophone rig in ‘the newt pond’ (credit to Karina T for the broom mic idea).
